". . . out of the wood of thought that grows by night . . ." for solo piano

This is a piece in three movements for solo piano based on the same transcriptions of birdsong - via digital sonograms and medieval neumes - as in ". . . singing every minute high up in golden-green blossom . . ." and like that piece is also composed to accompany a sequence of Mike Collier's silkscreen prints. This sequence shows the gradual increase in complexity and interaction between species as the dawn chorus proceeds. To see Mike's images in a decent resolution please see his website http://mikecollier.eu/current-projects/mimesis-and-birdsong

The title is taken from Edward Thomas's poem "At cockcrow".
