Landscape Quartet was an artistic research project, funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council that I led from July 2012 to January 2014. The quartet consisted of Berlin-based flautist, composer and sound artist Sabine Vogel, guitarist, improviser and artistic researcher Stefan Ostersjo - then working at Malmo Musikhogskolan and now professor of artistic research in Lulea University, Matthew Sansom, sound artist, improviser and composer who was then a lecturer at Surrey University and now professor at Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur, and myself.

 

This film was made by Matthew. The soundtrack consists of a single take in which all four of us recorded the sound of the wind "playing" our instruments. Klagshamns udde is a nature reserve on the Baltic coast directly opposite Copenhagen, a strange stretch of unbelievably shallow sea, where you can walk out to sea for half a mile of more, and the water barely covers your ankles! You can get a sense of this from the rocks sticking up out of the water in the video.
